Long Island has been noted for its lovely scenery and much of that is greenery. Yet, a common concern for locals has been the level of carcinogens that has been associated with our lush green environment.
But, it seems that it’s going to get easier and safer to keep Long Island green.
According to officials a new bill proposes that Suffolk County eliminate the use of carcinogens and other possibly dangerous substances for fleet services, painting, landscaping and for other maintenance. And, they note, it’s all part of ensuring the continued health, well-being and welfare of the locals, the employees and area constituents.
They add that by using non-toxic chemicals, not only will be making major strides toward improved health but will also open the doors for economic growth for companies producing non-toxic materials.
