Two of my favorite places (so) far in the world are California and Hawaii, though I “do” love the D.C. Metro System. These two areas have everything The Big Apple has to offer only cleaner and more modern. Don’t get me wrong, there’s NOTHING wrong with “old fashioned” appeal, in fact, I adore the quaintness of Long Island, it’s the fact that perhaps through time and neglect and lack of proper maintenance that it’s started to look more homely than homey and is in dire need of a “facelift” and some TLC.
And, it seems that when it comes to such thoughts, I am not alone. In fact, a host of developers have thrown their respective hats in the ring to breath some new life into our otherwise “exotic” Island. Yet, some of these projects and/or proposals remain in deliberation or “on hold”. Among these the Development slated to go up in Glen Cove.
The revitalization project would feature homes, a hotel, and entertainment space along Glen Cove Creek.
However, recently, the Glen Cove Industrial Development Agency asked that the project be rejected by the city’s planning board.
Those asking for a halt on the project note that the plan is not the same one reviewed two years ago.
The proposed plan call for 1,120 residential units, a 200-suit hotel, 41,000 square feet of entertainment area and 32,000 square feet for stores and retail space. And, up to now only 860 residential units got the thumbs up.
And, among the differences cited: the location of the property.
But, the people, especially those who want the plan suggest that a development of the caliber would likely help improve the community while also lowering taxed, and they are getting frustrated and restless with the delays.
