Long Island authorities are still on the lookout for a huge prehistoric creature, that went missing over the weekend.
The dinosaur was hoisted form the OysterFest over the weekend and appears to still be “on the loose”.
According to authorities, it’s a replica of a raptor Deinonychus, they say they believe was hoisted from a trailer in the parking lot of Beekman Beach in Oyster Bay anywhere between Saturday night and Sunday morning.
The dinosuar’s owner notes that was featured at the festival to remind attendees to the “Battle of the Dinosuars” exhibit at the Sands Point Preserve, and is noted as being left at the end of the festival day on October 14th. It was discovered to be missing the next morning around 9:00 a.m.
Authorities note that the dinosaur weighed about 200 pounds, five feet tall and ten feet tall, and would have taken two or more people to steal it. They also suggest that it could have been removed from the trailer by rocking it back and forth. And they add that it’s worth about $30,000.
While police are continuing to look into the matter, they are urging anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS
