Whether you’re looking for someone to assist you with your child, take care of them for a few hours while you are out, or someone to be there while you go to work, finding someone you like, and more importantly, trust, can be challenging.
In fact, having a nanny, for most, is a “relatively” new “phenomenon” for woman as many need or want to be in the workforce. But, that means putting your child in someone else’s hands and care and relinquishing authority and control, making it crucial to choose carefully and wisely.
· Start off by finding someone that’s recommended and reputable. But, be sure to check references. You may even want to contact agencies that can help you do the research.
· Listen to your intuition. If you “feel” something just isn’t right or you have an unsure feeling, experts suggest going with your gut.
· Let go of guilt (if there is any). Women generally tend to overthink and overanalyze things and may be battling with their decision to leave their child with a nanny. Weight out the pros and cons and if the pros “do” exceed (for you) the cons then move forward without any regrets or guilt.
· Set realistic standards. It’s important to remember that you “sitter”/”nanny” will be less of a Nanny 911 and more like you, if you were staying home with the kids. So, if you’re realistic about what to expect, you’ll likely be happier with your decision and choice.
