The generation between the Beatnicks and hippies and today’s Emo Chics, we were among the first to jump on the ergonomically and environmentally friendly bandwagon. In fact, I can remember giving up alcohol for green drinks and my Mr. Coffee for a Mr. Juicer, back in the day. And, most of my friends were organic and recycle conscious by the time we hit our mid to late 20s.
Still, there are those moments when, due to our busy lifestyle even we’re tempted to eat off tossable paper plates and save ourselves the time and energy of cleaning up after dinner.
Here are just some offenders to avoid if you can:
· Storing organic goodies in plastic containers that may be harmful to your health and can’t be recycled via your local recycling program.
· Idling your SUV while waiting on a long drive through line or in traffic.
· Using plastic plates and forks in lieu of traditional dishes and flatware. At least paper can be recycled.
· Driving to locations that are within walking distance, wasting gas, time, and polluting the environment.
· Shipping one order of items in several packages or shipments rather than waiting to mail or ship out in bulk.
· Purchasing individually wrapped fruits, sweets, or treats…..supporting an excessive amount of packaging waste.
