Healthy eating is not only good for you…but it’s also become very “trendy”. And, while markets like Whole Foods and organic cooking are gaining in popularity…seasonal eating…eating primarily foods that are inherent to the season and preparing them in a fashion that balances sweet and sour, spicy (hot) and cold, has been slower in making its way to the forefront of the American diet and kitchen table.
Still, picking produce and other seasonal menu items may, in fact, be the healthiest way to “feast”.
With the cooler temps seemingly officially upon us, hearty fare is fabulous to serve. And, among the favoured ingredients for this seasons best recipes are mushrooms. All varieties including Portobello, oyster, white button, etc are ideal for soups, stews and even ad-ins to burgers, meatloaf, and salads.
