Natural mc vs. medicated vs. d&c
I went for my first sono today at 8 weeks and there was just an empty sac. I had a bad feeling that this pregnancy wasn't going to be viable so I had been mentally preparing myself.
I had a miscarriage almost 2 years ago but that time the pregnancy test was never really dark and I started lightly spotting at 5 weeks, started bleeding heavier about a little over a week later and the following morning I miscarried. Physically, I had no cramping or pain.
I told Drs that I wanted to miscarry naturally but I am not spotting at all and I am concerned how long it will take for my body to start miscarrying. Also, I am a little scared that I could hemorrhage.
If anyone has taken the medication or had a d&c can you please share your experience and which you would recommend.
If you had a d&c do they put you under completely or just local? Doesn't it cause scar tissue?

Natural mc vs. medicated vs. d&c
First of all, I am so sorry for your loss.
I had a D&C. Once I knew there was no hope I couldn't bear to carry any longer than I had to. I know that sounds awful but it's how I felt at the time. I was supposed to be 8+ weeks pregnant but the baby stopped growing at 6 weeks. My beta was also 195k so I knew if I tried to MC naturally it would take a while.
They put me under for the D&C. I have read that the procedure CAN cause scar tissue internally but I don't know how common it is. I was able to conceive my first cycle trying post MC and that baby was born healthy.
As for the Aftermath... Physically I felt fine but emotionally is a different story. The one thing I will say is I think because I felt okay, I tried to jump back into a normal routine a little too soon. This caused me to bleed heavier than I expected two days after the procedure. If you do decide to have a D&C I would recommend taking it easy for a few days after.
Again I am so sorry you have to be in this position at all. There is no right or wrong way here. Just do what you feel most comfortable with.

Re: Natural mc vs. medicated vs. d&c
I've been through this many times and all things considered, I'm gojng to say a d&c is the better route. By waiting to pass things naturally, you not only risk infection, but it could take a really long time. Mine took 4 1/2 months where u spotted gradually throughout and went for weekly beta checks the entire time.
There are different methods for doing the d&c. I'd ask your doctor which they do. Scaring should not be an issue here, but of course always voice your concerns to your doctor and when in doubt, remind them you want a gentle d&c. Yes they usually do put you out-- But frankly, I'd rather be asleep for this anyway.
Let me know if you have any specific questions.
