Please settle a debate
My mom was my best friend ever. She passed away almost 8 years ago. My friend and I were talking and I mentioned that I am going to have my focus object, when I deliver my son, a picture of my mom. My friend thinks that this is slightly morbid and thinks it will make me sad not focused (probably b/c everytime I talk about my mom missing the birth I cry hysterically). Any opinions??

I think it's a great idea. It's a way for you to include your mom in what will be one of the most important events of your life. I believe spiritually she'll be with you anyway, but to focus on YOUR mom as you are becoming one is just a great idea. I think it will bring a lot of emotional satisfaction. Go for it!!

I think that is a wonderful idea! And not morbid in anyway. It is a beautiful way to include your Mom in the room and to channel her spirit as your child enters this world. What a truly beautiful thought

I don't think it's morbid- but there is no way I could do it- my Mom died 2 years and 4 months ago- and I would be too upset
but I think it's a nice idea

My sister had a picture of my mother up during the entire birth and also in the baby's clear crib in the hospital next to her name. It was only 9 months after mom had passed. I think its a wonderful way to have your mother close to you during this difficult but wonderful time. And by the way..who cares what she thinks..if you want it then do it!!

I didnt have a picture up by I focused on my mom in my mind thru the labor and pushing and I really beleive that she helped me thru it.

Only you know how much you love and miss your mom. I don't think it's crazy at all. Don't worry about what people think.
There is nothing wrong with you wanting to feel your mother with you in the delivery room.

I think that whether you have a physical picture there or not, you will focus on her... I found it impossible NOT to think of my mom as I went through pregnancy/birth without her. Good luck to you

excellent point! I went through my whole pregnancy thinking of my dad. I dont think its morbid at all. Do what you would like and whats in your heart.

I think that is so beautiful that your Mom will be a part of that special moment. It will not be depressing if anything it will lift your spirits up. What a really nice thought..Good luck to you, and God Bless Your Little Angle.

I think this is a great point and really good way of looking at it. I like to try to include my mom in things, too. But I *think* and of course this is just me, that using my mom's picture as a focus object would make me cry in this case.
