does anyone know about insurance
i am considering going on my husbands insurance, i have my own but if something happens that i have to leave my job and pay cobra i would rather be able to be on his insurance plan. my question is pregnancy considered a pre existing condition?

I think its OK if you join during open enrollment. But I am not 100% sure.

nope a life event is like marriage and birth. i know my husband and my job have enrollment in november find out when open enrollment is.

so i could join his insurance anytime when ther is open enrollment, he has to pay into his insurance, mine is free so i would love to be able to go onto his insurance when i stop working, i just want to make sure that my pregnancy will be covered

When we got married, I had to wait till open enrollment to get into DH. I stayed on my own unti lthem.
DH WAS going to switch jobs and was told by the NEW insurance guy that they woule NOT Accept me being PG, I'd have to wait until after she was born for us to be added as individuals.
Each company is different, have DH talk to human resources to find out about enrollment, then call the actual insurance company and ask them about you already being PG.

No pregnancy is not considered a pre exsisting condition..
I wanna say the HIPPA laws protect you there :)
My mom works for health ins...and I had the same question when I switched to DH insurance...and my mom was right ; )

I know in my job my insurance- If I had it-and If I wanted the insurance to cober me during my maternity then I had to continue to pay into it while out... (or pay it flat out for the month they couldnt take from a paycheck..
As far as covering the baby- I think you just need to change it from self covg. to family...

yes...BUT check with them as to WHEN you have to add your baby.
We have to add her within 30 days of her birth for her to be covered. Also, we had to inform them that I was PG.
