Resumes

When is the best time to walk in resumes to the schools (Queens Public schools) should i go this week, july, august??? Does it even matter? will they be there?

i would go yesterday! LOL, i am on the interview committee at my school, and we started interviewing applicants last week. we will continue this week. not all schools are hosting summer school, but the ones that do will have neighboring schools principals in the building as well. do your homework.

i would mass mail or fax your resume to prospective schools now, and in the middle of august, when principals come back from their vacation to letters of resignation on their desks.

ps. you could also check www.nycenet.edu for "open market" listings to find out which schools are really looking so you dont waste your time.

you said u r on the interview committee, do you have any information about school social workers in the public schools applying for a position? any information you may have would be very helpful. i've placed my resume and application on the nyc website for teachers/pupil services and applied to many openings throughout the year. I heard applicants are put on a list and when there is an opening that is when ur possibly contacted by the school.
