UPK/K teachers in Public Schools

I'm applying for a UPK position on the island and it asked me for my salary range....wouldn't they make the same salary as the K-6 teachers?

What is the salary generally (obviously all districts are different).

I would actually like to know that as well.

I was a UPK teacher in Queens for the 2003/2004 school year. It was a separate UPK across the street from a public school where most of the kids went after pre-k.
i got paid $11 an hour and NO benefits..hence the reason i left right after that year is over. Now that they have them in the public schools i would like to know how much they pay and if they give benefits also.

i would at least ask for the starting salary in that district......is it part of the district? in a school where i work the UPK is part of the public school so those teachers are DOE employees

I think it depends on the district. In my district, the Pre-K is grant funded, the pay is not good, and there are no benefits. And I believe it is a one year position, no tenure involved.

ETA: I am in Nassau.
