What should I expect for my second dr.'s appt?

I have it today. I still haven't gotten my bloodwork done since my last appt. I know I should have, I am SOOOOOOOOOO horrible when it comes to blood work, it freaks the hell out of me. I'm a bad patient. Now I'm thinking maybe I should call and tell them I didn't get it done.

you NEED to have that bloodwork done Rachel!!! It's really not that bad. Other than that, it should be just a consult with the dr.

Oh you so need that bloodwork!!!!! Can you go have it before you to your appointment? They won't have the results but at least you'll have it done!!!

Yeah, the bloodwork is important. They'll go over the results with you. And they'll have you pp in a cup, and then do a regular gyno exam if you aren't current on your pap, etc.

I can't believe I didn't go get the bloodwork. I'm such a baby. I guess I need to make that priority today. It's not like a fasting bloodwork, right?

You really should have your bloodwork done at the appointment. That way they can confirm the pregnancy and check for a bunch of other stuff.

At my 2nd appointment I had an internal sonogram and we saw the heartbeat.

I already had the pregnancy confirmed, already heard the heart beat and had a sonogram. I have my second sonogram on December 9th. So I'm assuming today was probably just to go over my blood work. Lovely, and I've messed that up All because of my EXTREME phobia of needles. I'm so mad at myself right now.

JT's mad at me now because we have so many other things to do today. I hate him sometimes. If it was HIM who needed to get bloodwork, I'd have to hold his freaking hand the whole time, but when it's me, I'm supposed to **** it up and deal with it when he's not around. I'm in such a bad mood today

The blood work is really important, I hope you get it done ASAP. You are putting yourself and your baby at risk by not knowing some things that the blood tests will tell the doctor.

My 2nd appt was just to check my weight, my urine, my blood pressure, did a sono.

Rach- the blood work is the easiest thing your gonna have to do...so face your fears now!! I promise its quick, and not bad at all... (im the biggest baby)

how many weeks are you??? After 12 weeks...you'll go in and hear the hearbeat at every apt, and just go over any questionsa you may have... its fairly easy up until about 34 weeks...thats when the internals come

Needles do s*ck, but they are minor in compared to what we have ahead of ourselves.

We have to be brave and get over our fears- we are about to be moms!! Trust me- I can't even tell you how many things I am scared about... but we need to face our fears and do what is best for our babies. That's how we'll all end up being great moms!! If you need DH's support, then have him come with you.

Its really not that bad- they just prick you once and the rest of it is the collection whcih doesn't feel like anything. ITs really not bad.

I HATE getting my blood taken too. I always try to stare at something on the wall when they're doing it, to help take my mind off of it.

Try to get your bloodwork done before you go to your appt. They won't have the results but at least you can tell them that you went today. Also, you do not need to fast.
You can call your doc's office after a few days to find out the results of the bloodwork, you don't need to wait until your next appt.

I'm sorry you're so scared. Don't worry, it's really not that bad. Just get it over with so it can be behind you and you can move on.

I had an internal sono at my 2nd appt. Get the bloodwork done at the Dr's office, it is very important.

rach im the same way with blood but i got mine done right away and it wasnt bad. i usually have michael or my mom hold my hand and i told the blood tech that she turned around and said, " honey you need to grow up, babies having babies!". so i sucked it up and she even gave me a lollipop.

Ok girls....I went and got my blood taken! Thanks for the kick in the butt. JT came with me, and I was a nervous wreck, but the girl was very nice and it was over quickly. THANK GOD! I'm usually pretty tough, that's just one of those things that I cannot handle. But it's done. WHEW!

I hear you Rachel! I'm the worst when it comes to needles trust me. I actually thought of putting it off too, but then I said to myself, the quicker I get it done, the quicker it's over with and the quicker I'll know that the baby and I are off to a good start! I had to go to a lab so I told the tech that I ad just found out I was PG and she was talking to me the whole time about how we were going to tell our families and all that other fun stuff, it really kept my mind of it and it was nothing. So talk up a storm from now on, it might help!
