Changing my name on the Passport....

I'm going away in April- still haven't changed my name on my liscense or social security, but i was planning to do it this week.

If I change my name I have to change my passport, but that would require sending it away again.

Does anyone know how long this takes? Is it as long of a wait as getting the original? Should I just keep my maiden name until after the trip?

Ugh....it stinks that I have to deal with this...I wish DH would change his name instead

Yes you have to send it away again to have the name changed. I would wait until after the trip since they are saying up to 16 weeks for passport changes.

I got my passport back in less than a month when I changed my name on it. I did not expedite it.

Have you booked the tickets yet for your trip in April? If not, I'd book them in your maiden name and then change the passport when you get back just to be safe.

ETA - You can still change the name on your license and your SS card though.

Do it NOW! But...mine came back in less than a month...

I had to change my name on my passport, and I got it back in 4 Weeks and that was over the summer. When they said they were the busiest.
Maybe you will be very lucky and get even faster.
