i grew up right outside philly- theres a lot to do there! are you taking your DD with you? if so, she might like the "Please Touch" museum for kids, and the newly redone camden aquarium thats right over the bridge in NJ. theres also other cool museums like the Franklin Institute, the Museum of Natural Science... you can also just see all the historical stuff like the constitution hall, the liberty bell... reading terminal market is cool to walk around with all different goods people are selling

I went last summer with some friends. We stayed at the Doubletree Suites in Center City and liked it a lot.
There is a lot to do - we didn't get to do it all!
We went to the art museum, saw the Liberty Bell, went to Constitution Hall and took a tour at the mint. We also did a ghost tour in the evening which was very interesting.

yeah.. i would say either of those would be good... not 100% sure though because i've never actually stayed overnight there... but i know either of those are good, central locations.
