JetBlue Voucher question-Update
So i booked DH & my flight for this summer back on 3/26. Yesterday I happened to be on there & noticed the airfare dropped $95! I called JetBlue & explained what happened. They gave us a $45 credit but charged me $40 (taken off the top of the credit) to change my flight?
How is this right, we didn't change our flights, we wanted to get the lower rate!!!!! I have a call into their CS department!!!
Update: 4/9
So I got a phone call last night from the Customer Service team & they gave me a 1 time courtesty voucher for the entire $95 The rep told me that the reason they changed their policy was bc they feel that they are competitive in their airfare & always offer the lowest price!
I told her that on their website that it states "the first airfare you receive will ALWAYS be the cheapest & to book well in advance" Apparantly this was not true in my case & I will think twice about booking early....In the meantime, I have $95 voucher to use my 09!!!!

Re: JetBlue Voucher question
the rates always drop or spike depending on the day and time. I just booked a flight to Florida and one day it was 211 another 447 so I normally wait till Tuesday or wendsday to book a flight.

Re: JetBlue Voucher question
They no longer do price adjustments for FREE. They charge you to do it. It stinks. I even called them up and wrote to them about it (same thing happened to me) and they did nothing about it.

That is so absurd! I just read on their website in their help section that the first price you get is ALWAYS the lowest & they encourage you to book early. I booked 4 months in advance & now the airfare drops I am waiting for a response from them but I figured it didn't hurt to kick & scream about it

When did this go into effect. My parents have always booked a flight and if the fare went down did a price adjustment and were never charged for it.

Supposedly as of 12/7/07.
Here was their email to me.
Thank you for your email to JetBlue Airways regarding the fees and fares on your upcoming flights between Houston and John F. Kennedy (JFK). We appreciate your feedback and your support of JetBlue’s efforts.
As the operational costs of JetBlue continue to increase, it has become necessary to charge fees for services rendered to our Customers. Just recently our fees were revised and a new fee for honoring a lower fare is now charged. This change occurred only after careful consideration on the part of the JetBlue Leadership Team. They continue to monitor other carriers to ensure JetBlue remains competitive.
We understand your disappointment with this new fee but hope that you will continue to fly JetBlue so that you may experience the spacious, comfortable aircraft, complimentary inflight entertainment, and the complete, positive JetBlue experience. We are still happy to give you a JetBlue credit for the difference in airfare, subject to a $40 per person change fee. The lower fare needs to be available on your same flight and date of travel.
We hope that you will continue to fly JetBlue. We sincerely appreciate your business and we are committed to offer you the best in low cost air travel.
Once again, thank you for writing to us. We look forward to welcoming you onboard your JetBlue flight on Wednesday, March 26, 2008.
Sincerely,
Carmen Customer Commitment Crew JetBlue Airways Crewmember 26683

Oh, I did. I fly pretty much only Jetblue (with the kids, it pays to fly with them and their tvs) and I did put a complain into speak your mind and that was the stupid response I got. It's total BS.
BTW, the Skycab at JFK now charges $2/PER bag if you check in with them and not inside (which I always do)

Re: JetBlue Voucher question-Update
I changed a flight on Jet Blue last night.. they now charge you $20 for certain seats that have the "most" leg room.. this is getting ridiculous. I know other airlines do it.. but Jet Blue's whole schtick was how they aren't like other airlines... Ain't so much the case now...
I still love them though..

I heard they were doing that. I couldnt believe it. They are quickly changing to be like other airlines. I loved how they weren't and that they had the TV's. Now they are turning into every other airline out there.
I still love them but all these fees are just ridiculous.
That section that is speak up, I just sent them a letter about the ridiculous fees they are charging. I told them that the $20 is just ridiculous for a little extra leg room.
I am sure I will get a general response but still it's utterly ridiculous. I hope more people speak up and that if enough do they'll reconsider all these fees.

Soooooo Not happy with this new policy........I fly them a few times a year b/c I know I could keep an eye on the flight and always get it adjusted if it went down......This is very disappointing.... I hate when good things end...lol.....

Re: JetBlue Voucher question-Update
I got a response from Jetblue. Just like all other airlines they are blaming it on the higher cost of fuel:
We thank you for letting us know that you feel we should continue to offer the lower fare guarantee without charging the applicable change fees. In this era of over $100-a-barrel oil, we feel that these fees are necessary for the highly competitive operating environment we're currently working in. These changes still place our fees among the lowest in the industry.
As for our new Even More Leg Room seating fee. EL is an optional product that provides Customers who purchase it with a seat that has a super- spacious 38" seat pitch. The product will be available at all seats in rows 2 through 5 on the A320, plus at the emergency exit row seats on both the A320 and the E190. The remaining seats still have the same leg room our valued customers have come to love.
Research and Development for this program was not something we took lightly. Through customer feedback we found out this was an option many of our most frequent flyers were asking for. Again this is an optional charge and even if you do not want to take advantage of the extra comfort JetBlue still offers a spacious 34" seat pitch. More than any other domestic flyer.
We feel this is an aircraft enhancement and do not force any customer to sit in these seats. It's like charging for an inflight movie you, can say yes or no, it's an option to customize your flight experience.
ETA: I hope more people write letters about the disappointment in the fees and their research and development team reconsider these fees
