Wow! 30 day shred!

I picked it up this am at Barnes and Noble. I just did it while DD naps yowza! I exercise pretty hardcore 5x a week and I started with level 2. OMG it was tough, what a great 20 minute workout though!

I did Level II for the first time lastnight. Love the challenge. Im using 5lb weights but I know if I switched to 3lb weights for my shoulders, I'd be able to do the hundred reps....LOL Thats probably the only exercise I feel I have to go lower with.....

Doing shoulders with the 5lb, I find I have to rest.......and I cant have that.

Re: Wow! 30 day shred!

I got mine last night and I just finished the Level 1 for the first time. Some of it was easy since it's stuff I normally do at the gym-- the arm stuff and abs, I need heavier free weights. But, I never do lunges normally-- I think my legs are going to hurt tomorrow.

It was a great 20 min workout. I am curious to see the other levels- I will do Level 1 the rest of the week before moving on.

I wonder how many calories the work out is supposed to burn.

I ran a mile and then did Level II and I have a heart rate monitor and it said I burned something like 423 calories. Running a mile probably burned 100, so it's probably something like 323 for my height and weight (5'6" and 128 lbs).

Although on jillianmichaels.com it says it is supposed to burn around 500 calories.

Around 300 sounds about right for the length of the video.

Good to know.

Re: Wow! 30 day shred!

I got mine about a week ago and started out at level 2. I was a bit disappointed with it, I thought it would be tougher. I did level 3 today and was happy with the intensity of the circuits. I've lost three pounds so I guess it's working. It is a bonus that my whole workout takes less then my car ride to and from the gymChat Icon

You thought the level 2 would be tougher??? I envy you! I was about to collapse the first time I did it.

I guess for more advanced people it could be disappointing, but I consider myself a moderate exerciser and can keep up with a lot but it really kicked my butt!

Yeah thats how I felt. I did it again today but used 6 lbs weights. My arms and shoulders still hurt. Yesterday I did the eliplical for 40 min and the video, today just the video. It really is great for 20 min IMO.
