Masters Degree Advice Please!
Hi!! I've been on here before. I am currently an Active Duty Marine finishing up a Bachelor of Science in Professional Aeronautics. Unfortunately, a little too late in the game I realized that my dream was to teach.
I looked into a Master of Arts in Teaching program at the University of South Carolina. It looks like the program is NOT 100%. Meaning, it could go at anytime. It is a cohort type deal where you start together and graduate together. They begin every 2 years. I am not scheduled to start until January 2010. As we all know, a whole lot can change by 2010!!! I don't want to put all of my eggs in one basket.
Can anyone recommend any other Masters programs I should look into? I am not in NY anymore. I am a South Carolina resident just really looking for programs and not schools or maybe a school I can do online. I don't know. Just some help really.

Re: Masters Degree Advice Please!
I also decided I wanted to be a teacher late in the game. It was the summer between my junior and senior years of college. A little late to start then. So I ended up going right for my master's in teaching. It ended up being a great decision because in NY you need your masters anyway to get certified. Honestly, I wouldn't do a teaching degree on line. I think the contacts you make and the experiences you get through taking courses with professors who have taught is amazing. I also don' t think many school districts would like it. Although, it may be different in SC. In NY it's so competitive they probably wouldn't hire someone with an online degree. Are you looking to start a program before 2010? I wasn't sure from your post. If you are, I would just go online to colleges in your area and check out their teaching programs. Yahoo has a search where you can narrow schools down by location and program if that helps. Good luck!
