Writing Sample Appt. w/o Interview?

I got a call to come in for a writing sample and was told I had to bring 10 copies of my resume and cover letter with me.

I thought this was strange because I have never had to come in for a writing sample alone (without it being part of the interview)
and I was like can't they just make then copies , they obviously already have my resume, how else could they have called me?

When I went to do the writing sample, there was like 10 people in the room and nobody was getting interviewed. I just thought this was strange. Happen to anyone else?

never heard of that...what did you do with the resumes? just hand them in? I don't see why they wouldn't copy them there...unless it's NYC?

Yeah, I just handed them in when I was done with the writing sample and the woman counted to make sure I had 10 and just said "thanks."

This was a Nassau school district.

I hate this whole interview process!

I know that's how Bethpage did it. I got called for a writing sample, then an interview.

Farmingdale does it this way. They give you a written test first. It was almost like taking the NYSTE!
If you passed the writing exam then you were called for an interview.

I had to go in for a sample without an interview once. It was for a job listed on OLAS.

yes, i had this once. it looks like some dsitrcits do the writing sample first to "weed people out" where most districts use the writing sample towards the end to pick between the few that are left.

Thanks for the responses. I got called for an interview yesterday, so I guess I will just see what happens!
