Going tonight! First time ever! Any recommendations on the food? What to order? I can't wait.

Re: The Melting Pot
I had a ton of fun when I went. I agree with PP, the appetizers and desserts are the best and honestly fill you up. Be prepared to sit there for a couple of hours because it does take a long time. But it is soooo yummy!

Re: The Melting Pot
yum!!! we usually get the "big night out" when we go... its a TON of food! you get the cheese fondue appetizer ( your choose from a couple of cheeses), a salad, a main dish which is meats, shrimp and veggies, that you cook yourself in your choice of broth ( we usually do the coq au vin) with a whole bunch of dipping sauces, and i think it also includes a chocolate fondue for dessert. if it doesn't i would TOTALLY get that, too!! i think since its your first time going, you should spring for the big night out so you can try everything... then if you decide you don't like the main course fondue, then next time you can just do cheese and chocolate ( which is really filling, too!) have fun!!
ETA: i agree to be prepared to be there for a couple hours... but to me thats what i like about it, its really a relaxing, not rushed night out.

We went a couple of months ago. Glad we went with the coupon because we thought it was expensive for the 4 course meal. All of the entree meats taste the same since it's all in the same sauce. Basically you're just boiling meat.
We preferred sweetwaters where you get a real entree and then fondue for dessert. But in a previous post I read that Sweetwaters has gone down in quality, so maybe now we will have to go back to Melting Pot.
If we do ever go back we'd go just for the appetizer and dessert.

Re: The Melting Pot
OK. Just got back and have to say, we will be going back again and there are quite a few other couples we will be dragging along with us next time. DH and I went alone. Haven't had a Date Night in a LONG time and we enjoyed every moment.
I liked that we cooked our food. I admit, I was hesitant by some posts on here from today and previously. I was telling DH "Oooh Im going to be so grossed out", but, we tried it and it was good. We had the "Big Night Out". Definitley left food behind. It's a lot for 2 people, but worth it. The best part of course was the Smore's Fondue Out of this world.
We will be going back. I also loved that I made an early reservation (4:30..I made the reservation online through opentables.com) there were no problems. We were seated right away and our server was GREAT! You are NOT rushed at all! We were there a little over 2 hours. Very relaxing. I do recommend it.
