Thyroid meds help please!

Hi-I got great doc recs from here so thanks. Anyway-I am on Armour and the new doc wants to wean me off and put me on levothyroxine. Here is my issue, besides feeling like a zombie, Ihave lost alot of hair in the past three years since I've been diagnosed. I read up on synthroid etc and they each seem to cause hair loss. Has anyone taken these drugs succesfully? If so which ones have you had luck with? Did you lose hair is really my concern.
thanks for your time.

I am on synthroid and doing fine with no side effects. I had some symptoms that I thought were side effects in the beginning but my dr. told me they were really symptoms of my thyroid being sooooo off. Once I got my dose regulated everything has been fine.

I was on synthroid and now I think I'm on the generic version, which I believe is levothyroxine. I never experienced hair loss, in fact, I've read the hair loss is a symptom of the thyroid issue, not the medication.

If anything the medication has made me feel INCREDIBLE now that my levels are normal. Much, much peppier, more energy and my mood has definitely stabilized more.

I agree, I always thought the hair loss was a symptom of the hypothyroidism, not the meds.

My mom had to switch from armour to synthroid too. Armour is all natural, but as such, it's not standardized, you don't really know how much is in each pill

I was prescribed Armour also when I first found out I had Hashimoto's, but I switched drs. My new dr. told me the same thing about the Armour and switched me to synthroid. No hair loss. In fact my hair looks much better now. (It was very dry and brittle when my TSH was up)

I've been on Synthroid for years and have no real side effects from it...I've always lost a lot of hair even before the Synthroid.

Re: Thyroid meds help please!

I just read this thread and maybe some of you can help. I just had to get a physical for work and got routine blood work done. The dr. called and said I have aslow thyroid. I just looked online and realize I probably have some of the symptoms - very tired, not much energy, I can't say I'm depressed but not as cheerful as I use to be. I think I should go back to dr. and talk more about it. He said its not much to worry about now, but the more I think about it the more I think Meds may help.
