Skinny *****

Just started reading it. Didn't realize how vulgar some of the explanations of our food and where it comes from was going to be....I don't get sick easily from something I read, but I had to put the book down after they described what livestock go through....and I've even read "Fast Food Nation" which really didn't bother me. Skinny ***** is disturbing. I've basically deciphered so far that the authors views are that we shouldn't eat anything besides fruit and vegetables (they talk about how bad dairy, fish, meat (even chicken) are).

Re: Skinny *****

It was gross and harsh, but I actually gained some insightful info IMO from it in the end.

It was difficult to read, but it's acurate and I'm glad someone had the guts to get the info out there.

I bought the book last year and after reading a bit returned it because I was so offended (since it was not what I was expecting the book to be about).

I should have returned mine too. It was vulgar. It started off good, but then it was Vegan Propaganda overload!

Chat Icon I mean, have your opinions but it was so not what I expected (or what the jacket blurb led you to believe - which is why I was offended, I felt duped!).

Re: Skinny *****

I enjoyed the beginning of the book. It gave me a lot of insight into high fructose syrups, corn syrup, how bad splenda is, artificial products, etc. I am all for organic but I do eat meat & dairy. I just try to eat mostly organic or buy chicken/meat that claim isn't pumped with artificial hormones.

That's how I felt when I bought it. I read the first few chapters and never picked it up again.

Re: Skinny *****

I have to say that thank god I was already a vegetarian when I read this book.

I do eat more organic products than I did before reading as well.

Re: Skinny *****

I just finished reading it and was surprised by a lot of the information that was in there.

I am trying to stop drinking regular milk because of it.. and have been looking into meatless options or just eating meat a lot less.

There is a lot of vegan support in the book.. although you wouldnt know it from the cover.

Re: Skinny *****

I know I'm bumping a 2 year old post but I just read this book and NOW I remember seeing this thread the first time.

If I knew what I was getting into I wouldn't have read it... but I did. And now I'm cleaning out my freezer. I'm so disturbed. Chat Icon
