Shin splints
So I have been so good this week. I ran with DH one day, took DS for a walk at the Eisenhower trail another day and in between doing the Jillian Michaels DVD but now I have shin splints from running. I just started really exercising this week but I knew this was going to happen. I dont know why I get them. Is there anything I can do to prevent them?

Re: Shin splints
You may not be wearing the right type of running shoes. Have you gone someone to get evaluated on how you run? I did that on the advice of someone here and it helped tremendously. In the meantime, don't run while you have shin splints or you could do some serious damage.

Re: Shin splints
I agree with shoes. I never buy anything except my old faithful Nikes, b/c the one time iI bought different, I had an awful case. My track coach at the time had us (anyone w/ shin splints) run on grass - not pavement. This was 15+ years ago, so I don't know if it's still valid, but it did make it feel better.

Re: Shin splints
Shin splints are tough. They say if you run with them to run at a slower pace and on a flatter terrain. Also, very important to wrap it...I would look up the correct way to do it. My running coach used to use sports tape...but there is a certain way to do it!
Feel better!
