Plantar Fasciitis?

Does anyone have this? I have heard of it and that it is quite common, but didn't really know what it was. for the last year or so, my feet hurt so much, right after I get out of bed - I thought it was bad circulation due to a bad mattress. my heels hurts when I'm barefoot - I thought it was b/c of the tiles in our kitchen.

Today I looked up my symptoms and everything points to PF. I happen to have a physical tomorrow, so I will bring it up then, but I was wondering what others do for it? stretches? ice? anti-inflammatroies?

It doesn't hurt me to run (although I'm sure I need a new pari of sneakers), but I don't want to get to the point where it hurts to run.

i have it. my podiatrist put me on anti inflammatories. also i went to him about once a week for 6 months for a foot bath. i can't walk around barefoot anymore. i also have to get more supportive shoes. i don't have it in the morning. i have mine during the day - dull pain. i have found some stretches that can be done.

thanks for the response. did your PCP refer you to a podiatrist or did you go on your own?

my hubby had it, and had a few visits to a podiatrist.. they got him inserts for his shoes, which he wore religiously at first,and now not so much, but still needs them again from time to time.

im not sure if it ever "totally goes away".

I can ask him any questions you'd like.

def go to a podiatrist. he said the inserts were like HEAVEN.
they werent covered and were a few hundred, but totally worth it.


eta- the inserts, forgot the name for them, are made custom to your foot.
thats why theyre pricey.

and we used to LOL at the fact that he had to go every week for a while, it started to get like "come on now, for a foot bath ?" I was like "can I GO FOR YOU ?? free pedicure ?? "

I had it years ago. I went to a podiatrist on my own. I tried anti inflamatories but they didn't help. So, I got a steroid shot in my foot (I still feel the pain from that shot!! ) and then he fitted me for orthotics. The orthotics were great! They really helped and now I am pain free. I'm also very particular about the shoes and sneakers I buy and I try to limit my flip flop use in the summer.

thanks everyone - my PCP seems to think it's PF too. So off to the podiatrist I go. I'll have to remember to avoid the shot! OUCH! PCP told me to replace some workouts with no running activities - i think I want to get a rowing machine, but just don't know where to put it!

I'm happy to hear that you have found relief/cures for it. PCP said I won't do permanant damage, but it's never good for an area to inflame constantly...she also nixed the flip flops and mules!
