Anxious

Hi everyone. Well so far it looks like I'll be teaching in catholic school once again after looking for a job in public school.

I'm being moved from Kindergarten to 5th grade! I'm teaching ELA and Science. I'm so overwhelmed and scared. I went into my classroom today to try to decorate.
I have my Masters in Literacy so I'm okay with the curriculum but I'm nervous still about where to start after being in Pre-k and K for 5 years.

Anyone have any 5th grade tips..I would really appreciate it! Thanks everyone!

i don't really have any advice but i was thinking that it's probably easier to go from K to 5th than vice versa. the kids will be so much more self-sufficient. you will have more time to feel your way. good luckChat Icon

5th graders are so much fun! They have a sense of humor, they "get" jokes etc. They are starting to figure out the world around them and form their own opinions. Good luck with the switch- I think it will work out Chat Icon

DEFINITELY! i did the same switch and I will NEVER go back to early childhood. i LOVE fifth grade. you really can delve into the curriculum with them and they're so fun!

i have a lot of resources and materials if you need anything, book suggestions ,etc.

GOOD LUCK!
