substitute teaching
I plan on applying to be a sub (in the city) and was wondering how it works. Meaning on know you are "on call" but do they just literally call you in the am and ask if you could work or do they give you one day notice?

Re: substitute teaching
find out if city schools are on the AESOP sub system. it's all done online "job-shopping" style, and there are no phone calls at all. teachers even log out that they will be sick late at night, and we can get jobs the night before, sometimes weeks and months before when they know they will be out for something.

Re: substitute teaching
NYC uses a system called Sub Central. you have to register in the system. when schools need someone they enter it in the system. you can get called in advance or the same day. i believe calls are made around 7am for same day. i think you can set it up so that you only get calls on certain days of the week or to block certain days that you can't work.
