Pen Pals

Has anyone ever had pen pals for their students? I would love to do this but don't know where to start. Thanks for any help you can give!

We have pen-pals in my third grade class...we actually have a new class to write to this year that is in another school in our district...we write plan to write back and forth and then plan a get-together in the late spring so they can "meet" their new friends...it works perfectly with our writing curriculum since letter writing is a our first focus...

teachers in kindergarten and 1st do it in my school with another school in the district and the kids meet at the end of the year, which is cute.

i did it once with my class with my aunt who is a teacher in Ireland. the kids loved having a pen pal in another country.

I used to get international ones for my students. But now with the internet they wanted e-mail ones and this one was pen and paper company. Now I just do pen pals with another Spanish teacher

I do it with a class in Chicago. If you go on proteacher.net there are always teachers looking for penpals.

We've done it before (I don't currently b/c I have PK). I used teachers.net (goto chatboards & then project center & there's a section), or else do a search on google.
