So going to my first parent/teacher conference...
at DH's request. I really don't want to go. I know I'll feel like a third wheel and quite frankly I don't feel like it's my place to be there, but since he asked me to and we personally know her teacher, it shouldn't be so bad. How long could it possibly take anyway?

ugh...that's awkward....I assume BM is going? It shouldn't take too long and your DH will be happy that you went.

I go because we think it's important for SS to know that we are all interested in his progress and support his education, his Step-Dad goes as well. We all went to the open house as well, it isn't a great social occassion, but not really that akward either.
It really doesn't take that long and I'm sure DH will be happy that you went.

You definately should not feel like a 3rd wheel, especially if it is important to your DH  ...It just means that you care and theres nothing wrong with that !!!....They don't take very long , so you'll be fine

For my stepdaughters, I always went, and their stepdad - there would be 4 of us sitting around the table!

my situation is different because bm passed away but i love to go to the parent teacher conferences. i think its a great way to let the teacher know that i'm involved and also to let my kids know that i'm concerned with their grades and how they are doing. it only takes 15 minutes so its easy enough. i was petrified for my first one though. i felt weird going. over that now
