Occupational Therapy

How does a normal session of OT go at your house?

Do you like your OT? Are they 'harsh'? Can you tell after just two sessions if you like them or not?

Re: Occupational Therapy

We go to a sensory gym, through insurance, not EI. Normally he just puts Lance on the swing. Our OT is not that good though, so we are in the middle of switching.

What do you mean by "harsh?"

I try to give them a month before I change therapists.

Re: Occupational Therapy

I don't think they should be "harsh" at all. I think it should be fun for your child.

I don't know where you live, but Ava had excellent OT at kidz Therapy in Hauppauge. They also have a location in Garden city.

If you need any more info, feel free to fm me!!

Christopher gets OT at school, and from what I hear he LOVES going. He gets excited when he sees her come and get him.

Re: Occupational Therapy

Steph- I sent you a VERY long FM about this.....but Jack LOVES his OT. They spend the majority of the time "playing". Bouncing on a big ball, stringing beads, doing puzzles, coloring using dot markers etc

Re: Occupational Therapy

Sophia just finished her OT therapy at home and I really liked her therapist. I'm not sure what you mean by harsh though. The therapist was tough with Sophia, doing alot of hand of hand even if she didn't want too which brought on a few tantrums from time to time but it was needed with Sophia's personality. The therapist was never mean just strict I guess you could say.

Thanks so much, ladiesChat Icon

Yes, I think I should have used the word strict, not harsh. Steven doesn't mind her...it hasn't been that long tough. He doesn't necessarilly LOVE her, but like i said...it's still the beginning. She is definately strict though.
