need positive thoughts please-UPDATED!!!
a while back i had written about my dermatologist not seeing patients anymore and his office not accomodating me for a new appointment. long story short..i found a new dermatologist and went yesterday. well there was a mole on the bottom of my foot that my old derm has been "watching" for the last 3 years. he didn't like the spot it was in on my foot so he didn't want to take it off because it would be difficult to walk. the new derm took one look at it yesterday and said it needs to come off now. so she removed it. with my history of melanoma, my luck and the look on her face when she saw it, i just have a sinking feeling that its going to come back as melanoma. and right before christmas. i'm so upset. i just need some hugs and positive thinking please. my stepkids just lost their mother in may and i couldn't bear having to tell them that i'm sick now. its been there for 3 YEARS!!! that jerk of a doctor!!!!
eta update
thank you for all the positive thoughts. doctor just called to say its a normal mole!!!!! i'm so relieved. christmas might have been filled with worry but at least tonight i can really ring in the new year with happy thoughts

I know it is very difficult for you right now, but this may not be melanoma...it could be a Clark's nevus (funky looking mole, I had one on my arm that the MD terrified me about needing it off asap, not waiting a week to see a surgeon, etc).
I've had my run in with morphea basal cell carcioma (you've probably seen my posts)...and that traumatized me...now whenever I see anything, I think the worst, and it's a horrible way to live.
I pray that this is just a funky looking mole and not melanoma

wannabemom responded to a thread of mind re: skin cancer, and she has had a lot of melanoma in her family. Because of this, she goes to Sloane Kettering twice a year for a melanoma mole scan (I think it's a digital scan, and they go over it, and have actual images to compare with on your biannual visits to see if anything is different....wannabemom could probably give you more info).
So, once this is behind you (and let's pray that it really is just a funky mole), maybe you should start with these scans, for peace of mind.
Even though I have not had melanoma, nor any family history, because of what I went through and my paranoia, I'm going to start getting these scans if I can.
