Re: cruise from ny to italy?
the QE2 goes from NY to UK, but it's 5-6 days at sea and can get VERY boring (my parents' friends warned them as my mother wants to do this, bt my dad doesn't)

Re: cruise from ny to italy?
My parents have taken celebrity a few times on their repositioning cruises - and have had a nice time - but it is a lot of sea days but celebrity has some nice ports on their repositioning cruises but they are like 2 weeks long.
I think they have one that goes from Miami to Holland (stops in portugal, spain, france). One that goes from Spain to Miami (stops in spain - 2 ports, Gibraltar, UK, portugal, Canary Islands - 2 stops).
This is the my parents have taken: England - Bayonne NJ - stops in France (2 ports), Ireland - 2 ports, Scotland, Iceland, Newfoundland, St John, NB (bay of fundy)
They have two it looks like transatlantic cruises that look really nice that DO from from Rome to Ft Lauderdale Fl on their brand new ship the Equinox. It stops in France, Spain (3 ports) Canary islands - then to FL - but I would think that is a lot of sea time).
There is another similar one from Rome (Civitavecchia) to Ft Lauderdale - on another brand new ship -
But there is one in April - that is going from Ft Lauderdale to Rome - which stops in the Azores, portugal, spain, France, and italy.
BTW any line that sails over in Europe has repositioning cruises - those are probably what you want if you want to leave from US and go to Europe - but you will have to get yourself back to the US - or you will have to get yourself to Europe to meet up with the ship.
