do you apply for a job where you don't meet all the qualifications?

One of the jobs, I want to apply for says you need to be bilinigual. Is it pointless to apply or do you think it is worth the shot? I think I am very qualified otherwise so I wonder if they can't get anyone bilingual if they would consider me. what do you think?

What about if a job is full time but you want part time? There are 2 other jobs that I want but they are full time and I really want to work part time to be home with my daughter and start my private practice (I'm a psychologist). Shoud I not even bother or would an employer consider me if I am the right candidate?

As you can see, I cant' seem to find my perfect job but these 3 are the closest I have found. If I should apply to any of these, when do I make my needs (part time) or lack of bilingual skills known? Thanks~!

Apply. They may not interview you, but you'll never know if you don't try.

I'd go ahead and apply. I work in human services and it's next to impossible to find qualified bilingual candidates. What we are being told we need to do as an "alternative" is utilize a translator/language line for any clients who need this service and the company needs to pay for it. (That's another thread though!).

I would definitely apply. You have nothing to lose. Good luck.

I applied to all of them. Thanks.
I reread the bilingual one and it was listed as a "preferred skill" so there is hope!!! Chat Icon
