Can you do contract work and still collect partial unemployment?
Someone told my husband that he could collect "supplemental" unemployment if he was doing contract work that wasn't enough to equal full time pay.
I checked the website, it doesn't give exact details and basically says you have to call them to find out the deal.
Has anyone ever done this, or know how they determine whether to allow unemployment or not? Thanks.

Re: Can you do contract work and still collect partial unemployment?
I know that if you get a part time job, if you don't make more than $405 a week, you can still get unemployment. So let's say someone works at starbucks and makes $100/week. I think NYS will still pay you $305/week until the benefit timeframe runs out. I can't see why it would be any different than contract work ...
I got laid off a few weeks ago and when my severance runs out, I am thinking of doing this so that I can get benefits while I look for a full time position - starbucks and a few other places offer part-timers benefits.

You can collect, but you can not work more than 3 days a week or make more than $405.
