Help - dental implant surgery question

I had implant surgery last week. I still wear the flipper because its the first step where they embed it into the gum and it needs to heal. I had the stitches taken out on Tuesday, and the surgeon said everything looks great. I have a follow up appt. on Monday.

Today, the gum around the area is throbbing and swollen and very painful. I had to take tylenol because I couldn't function. I may take something stronger they prescribed to me. It's also very sensitive to cold. I tried to see whats going on but it just looks swollen. I am going in tomorrow.

Does it sound infected all of a sudden?

Is it possible this is happening because the implant is failing? I am really worried about this happening.

Last time I had a tooth pulled and the brace put in there was a spare piece of tooth(root) that was left in. A few days after the surgery it forced out. Maybe that is what happened?

Call the dentist & see what they say. If it is an infection you'll need to take care of it. Feel better

your flipper might need to be adjusted. The gum tissue and bone are going to remodel over the next several weeks & the flipper might need to be adjusted a few times. The cold sensitiving is probably slight root sensitivty on a tooth on either side. Now that the gum is healing it maybe lower on the adjacent teeth than it was before.
Your sympyons do not sound like implant failure to me.
