Wisdom tooth post-surgery question...
DH had his wisdom tooth removed yesterday and I'm playing nurse. He is still bleeding...I don't remember still bleeding the day after I had my extraction. We tried the chomping on gauze, chomping on a wet tea bag...It seems to have clotted since it is not bleeding profusely, but it is still constant and he always has blood in his mouth...Any ideas? The office is closed...

I was told the tea bang. And eventually it stops. I do remember waking up the next day with a little blood on my pillow.

Thanks, I guess he's just in the "will it ever stop!" stage...He had it done at 12PM yesterday, so it's over 24 hours now...

Re: Wisdom tooth post-surgery question...
I bled ALOT. For a day or two at least.
I would not worry.
Plus its blood mixed with saliva, which could make it look like a lot more than it really is.

Re: Wisdom tooth post-surgery question...
I was packed with gauze, so I didn't visibly bleed at all...24 hrs seems like a lot. I would call the surgeon's answering service.

Re: Wisdom tooth post-surgery question...
Once the blood clot forms, make sure (since he is having such a hard time) that he eats soft food only and not hot. If that blood clot dislodges he will get a dry socket and that hurts like a Bizitch and smells rotten! This happened to me and believe me it's not fun.

I know, I had dry socket too. I'm kind of worried...He just let the dentist do it (when he had an appt with a surgeon, but he was at the dentist for an appt and he said he'd do it right then)...he didn't even put in any stitches, and told DH he would be able to play softball 3 hours later... which i knew he wouldn't be able to do...
I went shopping and have been feeding him soft foods, pudding, cool soup, cool pasta...but the blood looks like more than I had the 3 times I had teeth pulled.

Re: Wisdom tooth post-surgery question...
YEa he was probably better off with the surgeon. My sister made this mistake years ago and had her dentist take her wisdom teeth out and he butchered her. I hope he feels better. I would call the dentist first thing tomorrow morning.
