UPDATE I can be such a Whiny Brat sometimes....

UPDATE: DH's flight for tomorrow got cancelled Chat Icon He won't be coming home tomorrow. This would ONLY happen to me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So DH doesn't really have to travel for work all too often but when he does...I turn into a big, whiney brat. I absolutely HATE IT. It's not that i'm needy or anything like that, he's just my BFF, u know? We commute to and from work together, make dinner together, watch TV together..every day. So when he's gone, I just miss him and get all depressed (waa waaa, I know). It doesn't help that i'm stuck in NJ for now til we find a house and I have absolutely NOBODY here.

So anyhow, before he left I bawled my eyes out thinking about not seeing him from Monday thru Saturday. THEN...he had to go back the following Monday until this Saturday he comes back. So I was so excited telling him one more day!! Well....he now tells me he has to go back AGAIN MONDAY!!!!! I completely wigged out and yelled at him and started crying and sent him a nasty message on facebook like a big moron. Seriously, why am I such a two year old about this Chat Icon

WHAT'S MY PRAAABLEM??????

I get the same way when my DH travels. Even though I know he's working hard for US and would rather be home, it gets lonely without him. Chat Icon

awwww.....you'll get better at this traveling thing. It's tough in the beginning.

My husband travels often for work. Sometimes as long as 2.5 weeks!

I remember in the beginning it was hard. Now Im used to it. I enjoy my alone time. Get things done I want to get done. Then start to get excited when it's time for him to come home.

I like when DH does stuff on his own. I might get a bit bummed for a lil while, but I would relax and enjoy the quiet.

Thanks Ladies Chat Icon I was totally fine at first, I got to clean my house, went shopping, didn't have to cook fancy dinners (simple grilled chicken or whatever for me). However, It kills me when he comes home for like 2 days and I'm so happy to see him then he's gone again. I don't mind a few days here and there but this will be the 3rd week in a row *sniffle*

ITA. Its funny, when he initiallly tells me he has something to do , i get a little upset. But then, i end up not minding the time alone. Definitely get some girlie movies, and hopefully it will go by real quick.Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: I can be such a Whiny Brat sometimes....

i get like that too - i try not to show it though Chat Icon

during the wedding planning he kicked it up a notch working weddings on the weekends so we'd have some extra money - and sometimes i'd barely see him - sometimes he'd work 2 weddings a day on the weekends - but i knew it was harder on him than me b/c he was the one working while i'm sitting at home relaxing - so try to look at it more like that...

DH just started working weddings again on the weekends so we have some extra money for when we get a house so its starting again Chat Icon its rough, i hate it, especially him missing out on our weekends Chat Icon

Re: I can be such a Whiny Brat sometimes....

You are not a baby at all it s*cks. But if don't mind I will play the Devil's Advocate...

My DH works from home and I go to the office and travel A LOT. My trips at minimum are 8 days and I have done the back to backs. As the person leaving it kills me to know I am leaving him home and he is home all day and then not much to do at night. But what makes it even harder is when he gets all angry about it and fights with me while I am gone. I am not gone because I want to be I am gone because I have to be. My job requires it. And when I am gone I can't really talk to him because I am working 18 hours a day.

So while you miss him just remember he misses you too. He isn't leaving because its fun he is leaving because he has to. So it is natural to get mad and upset try to not take it out on him because it su*ks being on that side of it too.

Re: I can be such a Whiny Brat sometimes....

My DH goes away a lot on four-wheeling / ATV trips -- and lately he's been working a lot (every weekend, all day and until late at night) and I hardly see him. I have learned to watch movies, read, hang out here or on LIW, make plans with friends, or lately, go to networking events. It does SUUUCK, though.

He's working all weekend and mon and tues night, then next wed will probably be the only day in the near future we can have dinner together ... thurs he'll be getting ready for the atv trip next weekend, and he'll be gone until late sunday. And then he'll work again the following weekend. I see no end in sight.

I need plans for easter weekend!!!!! Chat Icon

Re: I can be such a Whiny Brat sometimes....

DH was laid off and while I thought him being home all the time would drive me nuts (I'm used to his work schedule and he would be gone for 2 nights a week, which was perfect b/c I would have "my" time) he hasn't. We do all of the things that you do and it's become such a nice routine.

DH was gone last night (he was being examined at a sleep clinic for possible sleep apnea) and I missed him and it was only 1 night. I ate alone, watched TV alone. I was BORED.

I know it's not easy, be thankful he has a job and it's $$$ for decorating your new house!! (fingers crossed the short sale goes though)

Do you have a dog? My pups keeped me company when DH was away.

Re: I can be such a Whiny Brat sometimes....

I totally get where you're coming from. After the wedding me & DH moved to Colorado (his home state) and I still don't really have any friends here. So if DH were go to away I'd feel kind of 'lost' ya know? If I were still in NY then that wouldn't be a problem at all because i had sooo many friends there.

DH never travels either, but recently his boss had asked him to drive into Denver for a delivery. That would mean that he'd be gone for at least a night, staying in a hotel out there. But he declined, knowing that i would be very uncomfortable ALONE here. Chat Icon So I understand you feeling upset. That is a long time for him to be away. Chat Icon

Jen I have plans for Easter but I will hang out with you -- Chris has been working like that for weeks now and of course it is when I am home for a change. And I can't say a word (1) because it is more money for us and (2) usually it is me working til the wee hours of the morning and then leaving town!

You ladies are ALL right and I just can't help but hate it that he's gone. One of the poster's above can really relate to me since i'm in another state and don't have many friends here. I've been trying to keep myself busy and make plans but it's just dragging now.

Jenna - i'm in Secaucus, where r u?? I think Bergen County is really close. I would love to get together Chat Icon

Thank u to everyone, you're all making me feel a little less alone right now. I'm so grateful for that. I've been pretty much alone (besides work) for the past two weeks and am dreading next week Chat Icon
