UPDATE: 4/30! I need to make a bratty, whiny vent
UPDATE: Well, my dad saved the day by making reservations at a restuarant in Smithtown for brunch at noon! Whew!!!
Well, as we all know, Mother's Day is coming up. DS was ten days old last year, and we were moving, so we just laid low at our house and my parents and sister came by.
Now, my parents want us to go to them this year, and I feel so bratty about it, but I really don't want to go. They live in Manhattan and it is such a trek and Sundays are our only family day as it is. I don't want to ask them to come here either though, b/c that isn't fair to my mom
My parents are always helping us and are awesome, so I am probably going to just deal with it. But it is bumming me out that we are going to have to spend all day there (my mom said brunch and we can leave at 5 ), but whatever.
Sorry, I just needed to vent!

Can you spend the morning at your place - maybe go to a park or something - and then head to the city for lunch at 2? I think your mom would understand that it's your mother's day also.
I want to lay low in the morning - have breakfast at the park or something - and then we will spend the day with my family - BBQ starts at 2.
That's what happens in my perfect world. I'm sure Jack will be a total crank that day though and ruin it

I would try to work it so you can do both, if not just stay home. You don't have to feel guilty for doing what YOU want to do on Mother's Day...you're a mother now too ya know?

How about linner instead? That's what Nicholas calls it when we have lunch late That way you have the morning together as a family and then head to the city. Then of course that makes you have to stay later and it's a worknight, so I dunno, I have no good solution!

I do Mother's day with MIL the weekend before and with my mom the weekend after. Mom's day is MINE now!!!!
Can you do something like that? or do Saturday in NYC so you have Sunday to yourself?

I think this is a good idea & good compromise
