Bereavement Counseling
I was just wondering if anyone who has had a miscarriage has had, or been offered any bereavement counseling. I am receiving calls from the bereavement midwife pretty much weekly, and although I feel pretty okay about everything two weeks after the fact, everytime I speak to her I feel okay, maybe I should go in to see her.
Has anyone seen a bereavement counselor or midwife, did you get anything out of it? I might go see her just because she has been ever so kind to me, and I want to put a face to the name. I can't really decide...

Re: Bereavement Counseling
Obviously, the choice is yours to make. I had a very difficult time with my m/c last year and found counseling to be very beneficial for me.
It couldn't hurt to speak to someone, even if you are feeling fine now, you may not sometime down the road. Even with my pregnancy and birth of my daughter, I still have rough days when I think about my m/c.

Re: Bereavement Counseling
I had 2 losses and did not seek counseling. Everyone handles it differently. Can you go and see if it fits your need?
Sorry again for your loss.

Re: Bereavement Counseling
It's a little different for me, but I saw a therapist while I was dealing with infertility and my father's illness and death, and for me, it was tremendously helpful.
I have a tendency to bottle up my feelings and emotions, and on the outside, by all appearances, everything is fine. Even *I* buy into it... and then slowly, but surely, the grief and stress manifests in other very unhealthy ways, like bickering and snapping at hubby.
If nothing else, I'd give it a try - if you aren't comfortable with it, then just move on

Re: Bereavement Counseling
After my m/c, I got the name of a counselor to speak with. I was having a rough time with the m/c along with the fact that I had been dealing with infertility. I never wound up calling her, but sometimes think I should have. I still may call her because of the infertility issues.
