Have you ever bruised or broken a rib?

I fell down the stairs a couple months ago and got a few bruises. Every now and then I get a pain under my breast on the side I landed hard on. It's an annoying constant pain when it's there. Sometimes I don't feel it at all. Does this sound normal for a bruised or broken rib after this amount of time? I never saw a doctor since it wasn't that bad of a fall, but now I'm thinking I probably should since it hasn't went away.

I had a car accident and I swore my ribs were broken! The PT I went to insisted on x-rays because I was in so much pain. It turned out to be just severly bruised ribs.

It took a long time before they felt better. Can you get an x-ray just to rule that out? Unfortunately with the ribs it just takes time to heal. I hope you feel better soon.

I used a rib belt for awhile.

Thanks for your response! I actually made an appt to see the doctor in a couple of weeks. I'm sure by the time I go for the appt., the pain will be gone completely since that's what always happens with me!
