HELP: Legal Administrative Assistants/Secretaries or anyone--how can I reword...
instead of "answering and returning telephone calls"
I never returned a phone call, only for non-work related items.

I would incorporate that into a larger sentence, something like:
Provide administrative/secretarial support for the department, including answering telephones, assisting visitors, and resolving and referring a range of administrative problems and inquiries.

Functions include answering emails, maintaining calendars, coordinating meetings and travel, telephone duties, preparing documents, creating PowerPoint presentations, organizing files and assisting in business and administrative projects.
ETA: I'm sure you returned phone calls. What about confirming meetings?

You could also say, provided professional telephone coverage with attention to details.

You can write - communicated with clients through telephone, e-mail.... etc.

I would simply put "provided heavy telephone coverage" (if your main job was to asnwer phones, etc.).
