Re: DOE and pregnancy question
I just went to a maternity workshop and found out the following:
During the 6 weeks or 8 weeks if you have a c-section, you can use all of your days, take a 30 day grace period (in which you get paid for weekends and calendar holidays) and/or borrow up to 20 days. You do not have to borrow days, but if you want to take the grace period then you have to do so before you prior to the grace period.
If you take FMLA (so extend up to 12 weeks) you can not get paid during this time. So let's say you deliver vaginally and decide to take FMLA you could get paid for the first 6 weeks, then you would not get paid the last 6 weeks, but you would maintain your position at the school (or a similar one) and your health benefits. HTH
I def. recommend attending the UFT maternity workshop. E-mail Karla Jordan at [email protected] for more info!

Re: DOE and pregnancy question
your 6 or 8 weeks are paid if you have the days in your bank. if you dont have the days in your bank you can borrow up to 20 days.

Re: DOE and pregnancy question
That extra 20 days is only in the city. My district did not allow extra days.
