Interesting 2 weeks with a child..
Some of you may know, I have my goddaughter (15 years old) for a month..we are closing in on the end of the second week. I LOVE having her with me, we have a great time.
Although I haven't been successful getting pregnant and actually getting to have the baby, I have had a little taste of what it's like to have a child in my home..she doesn't need me to be with her 24/7, she is home alone while I am at work (albeit she sleeps until noon, so she's only alone for 4 hours while she's awake lol). we have teh last week she is here off together..but she relys on me.
How different my and DH's life have become with her in the house. Privacy kind of goes right out the window and you kind of have to edit conversations. Not bad..just noticing the temporary difference in my home.

Re: Interesting 2 weeks with a child..
I know just what you mean. We "take" my nephew for longer and longer periods. He's 16 now, and I fear that will be waning because he has a job now, friends, activities.
But having him around, I'm definitely more cognizant of things like mealtimes, keeping a clean house, setting boundaries - although he really doesn't need many, and my comfort level. No walking around the house in my underwear like normal.

Re: Interesting 2 weeks with a child..
My oldest Goddaughter lived with us for a few months (her mom too). It completely changed our way of life. She was 4 then but I've also had older kids stay with us for no more than 2 weeks. It was a reminder to us that everything single thing we did needed to be adjusted (more time, patience etc.). The privacy thing was especially weird with the older kids because you can't put them to bed early and they tune in to different things. It's so nice that she wants to spend time with you!

Re: Interesting 2 weeks with a child..
We take my nephews from time to time for sleepovers.. they are 8 and 4 1/2.. They are pretty self sufficient.. They are happy playing video games and will let me know when they are hungry or what not.. So it's not that bad..

Re: Interesting 2 weeks with a child..
Having her is not bad, don't get the wrong idea..I totally love having her here. I was just noticing the difference in having someone else living in the house, such as putting a little cramp in my being able to have sex in any room of the house I like at whatever time I want. Oh yeah..and at what volume it can be.
