well, we were overbid!! UNBELIEVABLE
they accepted our offer this morning, and i just got the call that someone else offered a few thousand more. ...we will not offer any more...this is ridiculous.!!! Has this happened to anyone?
Why did i bother sending my "good faith deposit" if this was going to happen? Something doesnt seem right.

Yes = this happened to me just last week. Sure enough I got a call yesterday that the other persons deal fell through and they accepted ours again, It's all part of the game - and it STINKS!
But what is meant to be will be - if it isn't this place - it will be another that is even better...so hang in there.

It happened to us on the house we are buying, but twice! We were the bidder and were outbid right away. Then we upped our bid a few thousand and were having the engineer come a couple days later. The day the engineer was supposed to come we were told we were outbid again. Then, b/c we feel the house was underpriced for the neighborhood and we got $10k more for our house than we expected, we upped our bid again and were the winners. We should be clear to close soon!
It's so rough on buyers b/c the seller can choose another bidder until contracts are signed. When selling ours we were very upfront with our buyers and did all the negotiations at one time, then stuck with our buyer. We knew what it was like to go through the process and felt this was fair to both us and the buyer.
Good luck! Another house will come along that you will love!

i dont even want this house anymore..I'm sure we can find something for the same price that doesnt need half the amount of work..but still, this *****!!

OMG, it totally does. We were outbid 4 or 5 different times on different houses. It stunk. I was ready to give up & just find another rental....but then we found our house. Everyone says it, but it really will happen when it is supposed to. You will find a better home

sorry to hear this - but there is still hope. This happened to my sister and her husband, they but in their bid, then the seller went with someone else who was going to put down almost 100K for the down payment! Well, it must have fallen through, because a month later, the realtor calls my sis back and asks if they still want the house! The seller really liked them and wanted them back after the first deal fell through.... I hope it works out for you, or that you find something even better!

It happened to me too! They supposedly got an offer for $20K more, in cash! They asked us if we would match that offer and we said no way. They next day they called us when that offer "fell through."
