calling in sick
This is my second year in a school district. Last year I was at the HS. This year I was moved to the MS. I hadn't called in sick once.
Today was my first time calling in sick, and I'm nervous. I'm really afraid it will reflect badly on me as an employee that I called in. Especially since today I had a meeting with my supervisior.
I'm so nervous that I'll get in trouble

I feel like if you are sick then you are entitled to take the day off. Other professions get sick days, why should teaching be any different.
I do not think one day sick will have a huge effect on you as long as it does not become a habit.

One sick day will not reflect badly on you AT ALL. I mean seriously, that is amazing to me that you've worked straight through all this time without ever taking one before. I am sure no one will think anything of it. It's not like you take one every week!

I don't think it will make you look bad at all, especially since you didn't abuse your sick days last year. You can't help it that you got sick, and I'm sure that your principal will understand that.

I was sick so much last year, I took all the sick days available to me AND had to borrow a day!
...... I had a probable case of swine flu at one point and was out for a solid week!!!!  It happens!

So an update...I went to apologize to my supervisor for having to miss our meeting...She told me it worked out better for her b/c she had so much other stuff to do!
I feel a little better about calling in sick now.
