city teachers n parent teacher conferences
how do u let ur parents know what time they are to come in? my ss is in a nyc school now and we've never done this before - at my school we have the parents sign up at meet the teacher night.
i've already written a letter to the teacher for monday, but i figured i'd ask u guys for any info?

It is in our monthly Principal Newsletter and we have a phone message that goes out to the parents.
Also report cards are given before and it is on them.

there arent any appointments. its first come first serve.. and its a nightmare because typically all the parents come at once!

The parents are sent home a letter requesting the am or pm conference. Then we give them the times accordingly,...every fifteen minutes.

thank you - judging by the responses, it varies by school. hopefully we'll be able to get an evening appt. as my dh doesn't retain school info well

I think it varies by grade level...Im in MS, so each teacher has 5 classes of 30 students, obviously they can't make appointments or give 15minutes...

We do this..except it says on our letter than conferences are every five minutes (we book 10 in case)-we are an elementary school

Same here... although I just have 10 kids, so even if the parents do show up at once, it's not TOO bad

This hapens to me too... I'm a counselor so everyone saved seeing me for last!!
