There are some sexual situations and talk about sex in the books, but I don't think it's any worse than what you would see on tv.

I would not give them to someone else's 16 year old. I think they are kinda racy at points. I *may* let my own child read it, but I may not want someone else giving it to them, you know?
Did they already read Twilight?

I don't think they are appropriate for a 16 year old. There are a lot of graphic sexual scenes that I think are too much for a teen.
If you need recommendations for YA vampire themed fiction, I have a ton I could give you.

The House of Night series is good. There are 6 books
Vampire Academy Series is good, there are 3 books
Blue Blood series is good too, I think there are 3 or 4 books.
Mortal Instrument series was fantastic and there were 3 books.
These are all young adult.

I personally do not think they are appropriate for a 16 year old. Stick with the Twilight series and/or the Vampire diaries series.

I think they are a little too much for a 16 year old. I also highly recommend the House of Night series. That was really enjoyable!
