When did you start making the big purchases?

I am just over 4 months along with my twins, and have no older children. I have done a ton of research into cribs, strollers and infant seats. But when should I actually BUY these things? I don't want to wait too long just in case I'm put on bed rest, but I also don't want to buy a $400 stroller only to have the newer model come out the next day!

I think my shower was around 30 weeks so that is when we got everything.

edited - furniture I ordered around 24 weeks cause it takes time and I was told by the salesman that I was pretty late on ordering, cause some take about 8 weeks.

i had the same concern as you, i am very afraid of waiting to long and either being on bed rest or just not having the energy to do things,

we were given a crib so dh and i went out and bought more furniture around 4-5 months, this is also when we cleared out and painted the room,
stroller is on our registry and sil is buying it for us, i know its brand new its the new city select so i don't have to worry about a new one coming out, also car seats were bought by my aunt off my registry, anything else is still on registry but hopefully they are bought

i am glad it did this already cause at almost 7 months i am really getting uncomfortable and would not want to be running around now

so do it whenever you feel comfortable
if you research and find a stroller you like it would prob come up if a new one was coming out or ask in the stores

We ordered our furniture around 15 weeks. I started buying stuff around that time too. DH and I both have small families so we're not going to get everything we need at the shower. I decided that if I found something I liked, I would just buy it and not wait.

Thanks ladies. I am not having a shower (I have 3 family weddings this summer and don't want to burden people with more gift giving) so hubby and I are on our own with shopping.

I have a lot of stuff from my first child, but will make the big purchases (another crib, new furniture for DS, triple stroller, etc) probably after my 20 week ultrasound. We are planning on finding out the genders so I am waiting on this for colors.
