WWYD?

I'm blessed to have a choice, but having a tough time making a decision. I value your thoughts!

Here is the situation:
I have a good job that is 4 days a week. It is a contracting job for a company I've been with 3 years. Company is great, work is easy (since I've been there so long.) I am able to telework one of those days. I have 2 children 1 and 2 (about to be 2 & 3.) My DH is military and will be deployed in the Fall.

I have a job offered to me. It is with government directly, a GS position. Full time, no pt (for now) available (possibly down the line, but not now.)

PROs for current job:
Pt let's me take county classes with kids
Pt and telework will let me drive DD to preschool in the fall
Pt I can manage the house much easier
Boss is nice
I can change up the work some to keep it fresh

PROs for new job:
Training and certs
Long term career advancement
Hard to get into this agency
I can work out at the fed building
More stability (although current company is fairly stable.)

Salary base is the same (pt I have the same base, just I am paid hourly.
Commute is about the same

Re: WWYD?

I'm sorry to hear that your DH will be deployed.

Things to ponder:
- All in (commuting time, additional hours at work, etc.), how many more hours would the FT job be?
- Ability to telecommute with FT job? (can you negotiate this from the start?)
- Can you hire someone for household cleaning/laundry?
- To what extent can your overall support system help you with unexpected child care/home issues, especially while DH is deployed and everything is on you?
- Who will drive DD to preschool if you are in FT job?
- Are there classes at other times that you can go to with the kids?
- Is there a way for you to get comparable training and certs while with current company?

Good luck!

Id probably stay with #1 because of the flexibility with the kids.

Its a tough choice. Good luck with what ever you decide.
