Sigh.....
In so many ways, I am so so ready to join this board, but I know we are still not ready financially, career, etc.
Guess I'll just continue to lurk for a while...

We're not 100% financially ready either, but we just decided to take the plunge and let whatever happens happen.

Re: Sigh.....
I think a couple can prepare til they are blue in the face and still never be truly ready on so many levels. There are couples who have unplanned pregnancies and make it work. I am sure you will be fine. We are starting earlier than we would have had we married younger but time is not on my old lady side!

Re: Sigh.....
Thanks ladies - I appreciate the support!!
It's not so much financially - I realize that many people can truly never be ready with that and you just take it as it comes. More so, it's tenure, hoping we'll move near my family in FL before I start, etc
But I'll be on here checking things out!!
It's also scary though because I'm not getting any younger and I know that I'm in store for fertility issues

Have you been to the GYN for a pre-TTC consult? (bloodwork/exam etc?) Do fertility issues run in your family? Have you had problems with getting/not getting AF, etc??? I'd make an appointment, just to put your mind at ease.....

Re: Sigh.....
I am in the same postition as many of the posters, it is not time for us finacially, or career wise, we say 3 more years beore we try, I am just very nervous that we wait 3 yrs then start trying and have issues. I have never had a bad GYN report, infertility does run in my family so far no signs for me of what they had, DH's family i don't think any issues. I guess all I can do i just keep going for my annual appts. I have been on the pill for 7 years.
Thanks mrswask for this post. I have been thinking about this alot.
I wish everyone the best of luck!!

Re: Sigh.....
I am also a lurker. DH are both so ready, but I just finished my first year teaching and am also worried about getting tenure. We are going to wait to TTC until after next year. All I know is that with both of us wanting a baby so bad, it's going to be a loooong year - hopefully we don't have any issues to deal with at that point.

Donna - I have PCOS and am insulin resistant - so already a little worried about what I'm in store for
I have not had any sort of "official" TTC consult - but I know the basic plan - until I am more serious about TTC is to keep me on the pill until I want to ttc, (been on the pill for 10 yrs, which was what helped mask the PCOS) and keep me on the Glucophage - which I've been on since August.

Re: Sigh.....
Just wanted to offer some I know its hard to decide when to take the plunge. For my DH and I it feels as if we are still so far away from some of the goals we want to achieve, but this is something that seems right, and although I feel like there will never be a "perfect time" to have afamily because of work, $, etc. it is something we can do right now....

Re: Sigh.....
I truly believe there really is never the "right" time to start ttc. I had two LEEPS back in 2001 and was told by my doc it could take 6 months to a year to conceive and stick. We didn't even technically start TTC yet and I was completely surprised by a NYE present...
I was still freelance at my company so that meant ZERO maternity leave and I didn't get paid for any day I didn't work...and we also had my DH who decided to "find" himself (quarter-life crisis) and take off from the union he was to be a Real Estate agent...not the ideal situation.
I cannot tell you how scared I was when I first saw that second line (and all the lines on the other 11 tests I took!) But being a mommy is so amazing and worth all of it and the continuing worries.
I now have a staff position, DH is doing real estate on the side and back at the union and things just worked out because we made them work...we hope to buy a house in the next couple of years (we made the decision that it was either baby or house--obviously Bella won )
I just wanted to give you my perspective, which in no ways is the Bible...I know how difficult it is to want children but want the perfect situation for it to happen...I just felt the perfect situation wound up what being what I now have, my daughter.

Guess I'll just continue to lurk for a while...
I kinda know how you feel, I am getting their, but I am not there yet. I am actually getting excited about the thought, which I never really have in the past. It's coming in the near future.
