My update

About 2.5 weeks ago, I got a BFP - a really fast, dark line. I confirmed it with a digital a couple of days later. I was spotting at the time I got the BFP, but it just didn't feel like AF was coming. I spotted for about a week in all, and during that time, I had HCG levels measured. The first one was a 269, and the nurse said, "there's definitely something in there!" After the 2nd one, my doctor called and told me that the numbers were "essentially the same." She told me that she has seen pregnancies "take off" but that she wasn't optimistic. She said that I should call her if I start bleeding, or come in for a sonogram in 10 days. I went in today, and the sono tech saw.....NOTHING! Not a sign that I was pregnant. I don't feel at all PG, so I wasn't surprised. I never had any real bleeding, just light spotting at the very beginning, so I have no idea what's going on. I'm supposed to call my doctor when she's in tomorrow afternoon to see what she wants me to do next.

I hate my body sometimes!!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: My update

Did they do an external or internal sono? with an external they might not see something if it's still early. An internal is much more reliable at detecting what's going on in there.

Hoping you get some good news!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

i don't want to scare you, but please ask your doctor if she thinks there is ANY possiblity that the pregnancy is ectopic. and i'd also ask what the second beta number was. my story is:

got a bfp on a digital but started bleeding the very next day. the doctors ran my beta and my number was 14 so she said it was a chemical pregnancy. she did a sono and said everything looked "clear". she did a second hcg and my number was 29 (should've gone down but went up). she said she wasn't worried about an ectopic because my numbers were so low. something didn't feel right so i went to another doctor. she ran my beta and it was 70 but she too wasn't convinced it was ectopic. 4 days later i had terrible pain in my stomach. i went to the new doctor, they did an u/s, rushed me to the hospital and i ended up needing emergency surgery for an ectopic and had to have my right tube removed last wednesday.

i really don't want to scare you and i really really hope this is not the case for you, but i think it's worth pushing your doctor about a little bit. i felt bad for "pushing" and felt bad for getting a second opinion but now i'm so glad i did.

i hope the doctor can give you some answers tomorrow. lots and lots of prayers for you Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Thank you so much for the advice. The sono tech did say at one point, "now I'm looking at your ovaries, to make sure it's not ectopic." I will certainly double check that with my doctor though. It has been 2+ weeks since my BFP, and I have no signs of pain, but I really do want to rule that out. DH's mother had an ectopic pregnancy, so it is always something on both of our minds. I'm so sorry for what you have gone through. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

i was going to say the same thing about it being ectopic, especially if you still have a positive beta. what i dont understand is why the tech would look in your ovaries for ectopic - since that would be in your tubes, not your ovaries Chat Icon .

did they do bloodwork today?? your beta should be monitored until its 0. if at any point it starts going up again it could signify a problem so def make sure the doctors are on top of that. sorry you are going through this Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I was wondering the same thing myself, but figured she's the professional, she might know something I didn't??? Chat Icon

did they do bloodwork today??

They didn't. I just had an appointment for a sono, and didn't see the doctor. Last time I miscarried, I had been bleeding before I went in, so I had an appointment with one of the doctors, and she did the bloodwork and had me have a sono at that time to confirm. I then had bloodwork done a week later to make sure it went down from 20 to 0.

The sono tech told me to call my doctor tomorrow to see what she wanted me to do next. I assume she will want me to come in for bloodwork today, but unfortunately, she's not in until 4:00, so I'm stuck waiting to hear from her with all of my anxiety all day. I POAS this morning, and it still said "pregnant", so there's at least still some HCG present since my last bloodwork, which was almost two weeks ago. I am definitely worried about it being ectopic, and will directly address this with my doctor when she calls.

Thanks for the support. Chat Icon

I am so sorry you have to go through this. Hang in there. This sounds similar to what happened to me with my first m/c. I had a biighted ovum. My HCG numbers were low and there was noting in the sac.

Please keep us updated.

I'm doing okay, thanks. Just want to move past this and start trying again. My beta was 9 on Wednesday, and I had another blood test today, so it's just about over. I never really had heaving bleeding or anything, so it seems like it was a chemical pregnancy this time, unlike last time, which was much more traumatic.

We're terribly disappointed of course, and after 17 months of TTC, including an early m/c and this recent thingy, it's time for a RE.
