City Charter School?
So I have been searching around the internet to get a grasp for tomorrow's interview.
The school I am interviewing with comes up under the NYC DOE schools.
So if hired, does that mean I am a NYC teacher? Or am I still a charter school teacher?

Re: City Charter School?
I don't think so. I believe that even though Charter Schools are still part of the City their teachers are not considered city teachers. So they aren't part of the union and are not under the same pay scale.

Re: City Charter School?
It's a weird gray area- they do not go by the salary scale, you'd probably have a 403(b) instead of a pension (though non-charter teachers can get both) and you will not have due process protections. BUT they do get public money, so technically, they are considered "public" schools.

Re: City Charter School?
Got ya! Thanks. I couldn't figure out what the situation was and I didn't want to ask about it at the interview!
